Two week update

I am a little behind these days.... We are still doing great and thoroughly enjoying the newest addition to our family.  Kathryn is such a sweetheart and we all just adore her.  She loves to sleep & eat and is doing great with her naps. We are settling in with night-time sleep and we are up around 5/6 hrs at night.

Here are some more pictures we took of Kathryn at 2 weeks

And if you had any doubt that this is one cute child, take a look at this blog post from our photographer-- she was here this week and did an amazing job, here is just a sampling of Kathryn's first official photo shoot!

As you would expect from any soon-to-be two year old, she has her moments, but for the most part, Quinn still adores her sister!  I have a couple of videos I will post below- but she is so cute with Kathryn. As soon as she sees her, she gets right up in her face and says "hello baby", repeatedly! And her favorite things right now are holding her "siter" and she thinks it is hysterical when Kathryn gets the hiccups!

Some pictures of our two girls:

And here are some cute videos:

I have some more catch-up work to do, but hopefully I will be up to date soon!

She's Here!!

Kathryn Rose Driskell was born at 3:53 am on July 28

She was 6lbs 11oz, 19.75" and absolutely beautiful.  Dean and I are overwhelmed with love and happiness for our family and cannot believe how blessed we are to not only have each other, but now two beautiful, healthy and perfect little girls.

My water broke at home while we were getting Quinn ready for bed on the 27th.  Our lifesaver and babysitter, Melissa came right over and stayed with Quinn until Aunt Poppy, Audrey and Mallory got here from Nashville.  I am still having trouble understanding how Poppy had the energy to load up the girls and jump in the car at 8PM with no notice, and drive from Nashville to Atlanta, all while she is EIGHT MONTHS Pregnant!!  But she did it, and we were so glad she did.  Quinn couldn't have been happier to see them, I think she smiled for three days straight.

Kathryn is such a sweet baby and Quinn has started a run at world's best big sister.  She is taking her new role very seriously--she just adores Kathryn and wants to be with her every minute of the day.

So things are good here at the Driskell house. Kathryn had her first check-up late last week and received all good reports from the doctor, so aside from straightening out her days from her nights, we are doing great!

Here is a link to the pictures we took at the hospital and I've posted a few below:

Here is the Last belly pic!

And here she is!!!

Kathryn has had a bunch of visitors this week and Nana Quinn & Aunt Laur will be here this weekend, so don't worry, there will be more pictures to come!!!

Sprinkle for Kathryn

This post is a little late, but I didn't want to let it go without noting....

A few weeks back, Kelly & Tara were sweet enough to gather up our "bunko" group + a few of our other close girlfriends for a night out to celebrate little miss Kathryn's upcoming debut.  We had a yummy dinner at one of our favorite spots (Soho) and the girls showered Kathryn with a few necessities for her first few months.  Kathryn is all ready now with some of her "own" clothes and lots of cute monogrammed things.

Thanks girls, it was fun to have everyone together and I can't wait for Kathryn to get here and try out all of her cute clothes!!

I didn't have my camera out with me, but Tara was nice enough to take a few shots!

Quinn's update

Well, she is 21 months now and doing great!  We just came home from the doctor and she was given an excellent report (follow up from an ear infection).

Quinn really is doing amazing, it seems like every day she is expanding her vocabulary and has even working on some two-word sentences.  My personal favorite is "love mommy" :)  She has also been starting to practice her ABC's and counting.

Everyone keeps asking if Quinn is excited about baby Kathryn... well, she says she is.  She can tell you where the baby is (mommy's belly), show you the baby's room and sometimes you will even get her to say katryn, but I don't think she understands how her world is about to change.

It may take some getting use to, but I know Quinn will be a great big sister!

Here is a quick video of her practicing her ABC's earlier today.  I'm so proud ;)

Happy 4th of July and some catch up

We hope you all had a Happy Fourth of July!  We had fun, despite the fact that for the second year in a row, we were not at the beach.  The 4th also happens to be Godsey's birthday, so we had a few friends over and Dean showed off his new culinary skills.  We had yummy steaks on the Egg and had fun catching up with everyone.

I know I just did this with the beach pictures, but I just can't get past how much Quinn has changed this past year.  With my new Iphone, I was able to recover some old pictures-- check out this one I found from last year

Here are a few pictures we took while we were waiting for the company, along with our 36 week belly shot!
Quinn was loving the flags, she kept rearranging them and of course, since I had my camera out, she was saying "cheese!" the entire time ;)

36 weeks, can't believe how close we are!!

And some catch up...
Quinn is going through what we hope is a quick phase right now.  For the most part, she is still our sweet little girl-- but she seems to be working on her drama techniques lately. Earlier this week she pretended to cry through Kroger over a lost napkin (she dropped the paper her cheese sample came on somewhere in the store & by the time she noticed it, I had no clue where it was. Through the rest of the store, she was SOBBING "naaaapkin"...)  I'm not sure dean believed me until she started crying when we were leaving dinner the following night--sobbing and saying "traaaashh, traaaash", the entire way out-- she didn't want to leave her crayon wrapper. The second we got outside she was distracted by something and was back to her giggly self.

Here is another cute picture I wanted to share- 2 peas in a pod.  We are very sad for Dean that his gym closed in January-- he loved going there so much.  But at the same time, it has been such a blessing, he is able to work out during lunch and be home early enough to have some quality time with Quinn before dinner.  Lately, they've started a new routine for days that have been particularly tiring.  ELMO, Quinn saves her TV watching for the end of the day and relaxes with Daddy to Sesame Street.
